"Its actually funny
how I became aquainted with the members of MunkyDust. I didnt know who
they were or that they were even a band, but I am glad that I do now.
It all started when
I was in Mr. Brown's 7th period earth science freshman year. My friend,
Cheyenne and I were in there and we kinda kept to ourselves...we didnt
know anyone. Well eventually it was spirit week and 70's day or disco
day or something of that sort and in walks this guy wearing a hideous
taupe colored suit with these funky pointed toe boots. Oh it was gross.
It was Brady. I just laughed but thought it was so cool that he did that.
That was the first time I realized he existed. Well after that...we were
put into groups and Chey was put into his. I dont even rememeber why,
but people were picking on him and Chey came up to me and asked if I thought
he was cute? I was like, "yeah hes cute." and I told him. He was just
like, "Uhhh thanks." Well the way things would have it...I ended up having
to sit next to him for the REST OF THE YEAR. At first we didnt talk...but
I made him and we had so much fun. We have so many inside jokes from just
sitting next to each other. it was a table that just he and I sat at and
one day it just kinda fell over. The leg broke off. Well just last year
I was in a storage room in the basement of Sabino and found that table
and the leg and I almost cried. it was so funny. I would accidently touch
him and he would say "I feel so cheap. Are you copping a feel?" One story
I remember VERY clearly was one day during class I had a happy face sticker
and he loved it so I gave it to him. Well, while Mr. Brown was teaching
a lesson...he kept sticking it in my ear and i kept throwing it back at
him. Well, Mr. Brown stopped class...turned around and said, "Why dont
you just take her out to dinner?" Oh man...Brady threw that sticker and
turned beat red...as did I. So from then on he would always say that to
me. "Why dont I just take you out to dinner?" I dont know...it was funny.
But yeah...we were in a group together for a project on spelunking and
he had to drive me and Chey to the library. (This is where I meet MattK)
After school Brady and I went to his locker and this really tall guy was
standing there. he said some indecipherable thing that I now know is very
characteristic of him and he said, "Is this that freshman that you are
taking out?" Brady said, "Yeah to the library." MattK says, "Oh..." It
was then I realized what I had forgotten...Brady was a senior..I was a
freshman. I was a loser again. We walk away and Brady says, "Thats Matt
Kennedy. Dont worry about him." we went to the library, he hid my hairtie
in the languages section and that was about it. So now I knew Matt and
Brady.
Everyday at lunch when the lights would go out...the group they sat at
would scream. We sat next to them and we were known as the "Brady Willard
Fan Club" so pretty soon we knew everyones name who sat with Brady and
MattK. Ryan Tripp, Matt Carpenter, Trent Tanner and Nicole Nelson. I still
only talked to Brady regularly and Matt and Ryan when I could find an
excuse to Instant Message them. I found out that they were a band when
Brady brought a white binder to school with a story (much like this) written
about how they had met and their was a playlist. Stuff like that. he sold
me and the rest of the fanclub tapes "Music from the Meatwagon."
As if Brady graduated wasnt enough...he told me that he had to go on his
mission because of him being mormon. It was then when I started talking
to MattK a little more because he was losing not just one...but 3 friends
to this cause. So we kinda bitched to each other and made each other feel
a little better. That was about it though. I went to Bradys graduation
and cried...he visited me a few times the next year.
That was the end of me knowing Brady well. I got a few emails saying goodbye...and
I know he cared. Now I know MattK cuz of our mutual friend, Corey McCarthy.
Matt would come up to me and ask where Corey was and when he couldnt find
him...he would sit with us at lunch. Then he just came to sit with us
to talk and we all became friends with him. At the end of his senior year
we were pretty good friends. He made me laugh so hard I cried over stupid
jokes he made about this one girl looking like Rider Strong and then he
would do impressions and sing the Sabino sabercats theme for our lunch
table. Meanwhile... Brady left for his mission and his parents moving
to California will keep him there even after the two years. So now I talk
to matt K and I am a well known person on the MD web page. I get Rachel
to go there and now she, too is a member of out little MD club. :) At
the end of the year matt would get trent to come to lunch with him too.
Or even Trent would meet him there and when Matt wasnt there Trent would
ask me where he was. I didnt know him that well, but soon better because
Matt wouldnt be at school like he said he would or whatever and trent
would end up sitting with us. So basically I met MunkyDust because they
were looking for someone else...but they better appreciate me now.
As of this second...I still have never spoken with Matt C, I havent talked
to Ryan since his graduation when I wished him luck, I talk to MattK on
a regular basis and I constantly get harrassed and I talk to Trent daily.
I have made very good friends in these people and I dont want to get mushy
but I am glad I know them. I have many memories with these people...a
lot that I will never forget. But that is how it all started." -Erikka

"I don't really have
any memories of MunkyDust quite yet, being that I'm still kind of a new
fan. But from what I've experienced so far, I know that great memories
are to come. I, living is California, have never actually *met* any of
the MunkyDust members or those close to them (i.e.- Erikka, Alithium,
etc.). However, when talking to them online, which is actually the way
I discovered them, they've excepted me as a member, and treated me like
everyone else. I appreciate that greatly. They've been so kind to me,
which is why I help out with promotions and such. I can't really comment
on their music right now, considering the fact that I'm yet to receive
my copy of their tape. However, I know that I'll be thoroughly pleased
when it arrives, just because I've gotten to know the Tucson music scene,
and many great things have been said about MunkyDust. I hope to someday
meet them, attend an Udallpalooza, and maybe even join 'em on stage. Until
then, MunkyDust will continue to not be remembered by me as a band, but
as a group of good friends. MD-4-LIFE!!!" -Dexter
"I went to the most
recent Udallpalooza show. I was hanging out on the grass and lo and behold...
my old buddy Dwayne from OVMS shows up! So MunkyDust brought me together
with someone I hadn't seen in a few years. Go MD!!"

"I crap the bed. I
like to play video games all the time. I work at Sears and I play Dance
Dance Revolution at Golf N Stuff a bunch. I am so emo, you like, don't
even know. (Simulated response generated by Matt K)"

"Yo, this Jigga
Mike. Me and Matt have been friends now for a good 10 years or so. Back
in fourth grade, we were FAT little scrubs. Like I think I was like the
fattest kid in the whole school. Now, we be like big ol' jiggas. Me and
Matt got together to watch the cheerleading competition up in Phoenix
and we had a good ol' time up there. Anyway, I think I'm ending my tirade
of random stuff now." Peace!
